Team India will take on West Indies in the second T20I of the five-match series in Ranchi on Friday, aiming to build on their comfortable eight-wicket victory in the opening match. India have recovered strongly from earlier series defeats against Ireland and England, winning 10 consecutive matches since then. Despite the absence of key players such as Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya and Varun Chakravarthy, India possess enough depth to maintain their dominance. Captain Shreyas Iyer's unbeaten 102 off just 43 balls in Lucknow has further boosted the team's confidence, while Ishan Kishan also made a valuable contribution. Sanju Samson, however, needs to find form after scores of 9, 7, 2 and 11 in his last four innings. Shivam Dube will also look to improve his batting form, while Tilak Varma and Naman Dhir strengthen the middle order. India's spin attack, featuring Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel, impressed in the first game, with Dhir also contributing with his off-spin. India could consider replacing Mayank Yadav with Prince Yadav after Mayank conceded plenty of runs despite taking a wicket.
West Indies will need a significant improvement to challenge India, having managed only 171 in the first match. Their batting line-up includes Shimron Hetmyer, Rovman Powell, Roston Chase and Romario Shepherd, while captain Shai Hope and Sherfane Rutherford will look to build on their half-centuries from the previous game. However, the Caribbean side's bowling struggled, and containing India's powerful batting line-up remains a major challenge. Left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein could be a key player for the visitors. The Ranchi venue is not traditionally known for consistently producing huge totals in night matches, making the pitch conditions an important factor. India's predicted XI includes Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer, Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, Naman Dhir, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Prince Yadav and Arshdeep Singh. West Indies are expected to feature Shai Hope, Kamil Poon, Shimron Hetmyer, Rovman Powell, Sherfane Rutherford, Romario Shepherd, Roston Chase, Springer, Akeal Hosein, Shamar Joseph and Ford.
