A controversy over alleged racism has surfaced during the FIFA World Cup, with FIFA's discrimination monitoring officials recommending action against a video analyst accused of making a gesture associated with white supremacist symbolism. The incident reportedly occurred before the Curacao vs Germany match, when the analyst appeared on the official broadcast feed.
The individual, identified as Australian video analyst Sean Evans, was seen making an “OK” hand gesture while being introduced as part of the video analysis team. The gesture has drawn criticism due to allegations that it has been used as a symbol by certain extremist groups. Following a review, FIFA’s partner organization Fair Network stated that such behavior would not be tolerated and recommended his removal from any further World Cup responsibilities.
