Series Against Bangladesh: BCCI Seeks Centre’s Approval

Relations between the Board of Control for Cricket in India and the Bangladesh Cricket Board had reportedly strained after Bangladesh, under the government led by Muhammad Yunus, declined to send its team to India citing security concerns. However, recent geopolitical developments have renewed hopes of the series going ahead. The two cricket boards are currently holding discussions, raising the possibility of the series being rescheduled. The Bangladesh board has reportedly set aside a special window from August 29 to September 15 for the series.

The final decision, however, rests with the Indian government. BCCI sources have reportedly said that discussions are underway and that clarity and approval will be sought from the Centre regarding the Bangladesh tour. Meanwhile, BCB president Tamim Iqbal has assured that Bangladesh is a safe country and highlighted the strong enthusiasm among local fans for an India series. He said he is making every effort within his capacity to facilitate Team India’s tour.
