Former India cricketer Shikhar Dhawan has strongly objected to the alleged unauthorized use of his name by the organisers of the World T20 Continent Cup. Dhawan clarified that he had not given permission for his name to be used in connection with the tournament and warned that his legal team would take appropriate action. In a post on X, he said his name had been mentioned in reports suggesting his participation in the competition without his consent. He also urged the media and fans to exercise caution regarding unofficial information.
Earlier, the tournament organisers had announced on social media that Dhawan would represent the Asia Warriors, a team featuring players from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan. Following Dhawan’s statement, the organisers issued another clarification, stating that he would not participate in the tournament due to scheduling conflicts and certain technical reasons. The development has drawn attention to the importance of obtaining players’ consent before announcing their participation in sporting events.
