

The BCCI has appointed Smriti Mandhana as the full time white ball captain of the Indian Women’s Cricket Team. A key figure in Indian cricket since making her international debut in 2013, Mandhana brings extensive experience across formats. She has previously led India in 18 T20Is and four ODIs and recently guided Royal Challengers Bengaluru to Women’s Premier League titles in 2024 and 2026.
Mandhana takes over the leadership responsibility as the Indian women’s team enters a new phase. In her statement, she described the opportunity to lead India as a special honour and thanked the BCCI, selectors, teammates and supporters for their trust. She also acknowledged Harmanpreet Kaur’s contribution as captain and expressed her commitment to taking Indian cricket forward. BCCI President Mithun Manhas and Honorary Secretary Devajit Saikia also congratulated Mandhana and expressed confidence in her leadership.
