India batting coach Sitanshu Kotak has praised Team India’s performance in the three-day warm-up match against Sri Lanka XI, saying the victory will provide valuable confidence ahead of the first Test. He was particularly impressed with the way the players handled challenging situations on the third day. Kotak said both the batting and bowling departments delivered encouraging performances, while the bowlers also demonstrated their ability to contribute with the bat. He highlighted Mohammed Siraj and Gurnoor Brar for their power-hitting, with Siraj sealing the win by smashing three sixes in the final over.
Kotak also praised Devdutt Padikkal for his impressive century, especially against Sri Lanka’s spin attack. He said scoring freely against spin in such conditions was not easy, making Padikkal’s innings particularly valuable. Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul also made important contributions with the bat. India will now look ahead to the first Test against Sri Lanka, scheduled to begin in Galle on August 15.
