Travis Head Creates History

Australia’s explosive opener Travis Head has created history by winning the prestigious Allan Border Medal for the second consecutive year. The 32-year-old narrowly defeated his close friend and wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey by just one vote, while Mitchell Starc finished third, only three votes behind Head. The back-to-back triumph puts Head in an elite group alongside Ricky Ponting, Michael Clarke, Shane Watson and David Warner, who have also won the award in consecutive years.

Head’s victory comes after another outstanding season across formats, particularly during the Ashes. He produced several match-defining innings, including a blistering 123 in Perth, and played a major role in Australia’s success. Reflecting on his achievement, Head said having two medals to show his children in the future would be incredibly special. His consistent performances against strong teams such as India and England have now earned him a place among Australia’s most celebrated recent cricketers.
