Team India batter Yashasvi Jaiswal has reportedly been practising wicketkeeping alongside his regular batting routine, according to Mumbai captain Siddhesh Lad. Speaking to reporters, Lad said Jaiswal had been working on his wicketkeeping skills and suggested that the 24-year-old might be interested in taking up the role for Mumbai or the Indian team. However, he clarified that he did not have complete information about Jaiswal's plans. The development has attracted attention as the young batter explores additional skills beyond his primary role.
Lad also revealed that Jaiswal has been practising leg-spin bowling. During a Mumbai practice match ahead of the 2026–27 Ranji Trophy season, Jaiswal reportedly spent around 10 overs keeping wickets. Photographs from the session have since circulated on social media, prompting discussion among cricket fans. It remains unclear whether the practice is part of general skill development or preparation for a specific role in the future. Neither a formal change in Jaiswal's role nor an official announcement regarding wicketkeeping duties has been confirmed.
