Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh is reportedly set to begin a new chapter in the IPL as part of the Delhi Capitals coaching staff, taking on batting coach and assistant coach responsibilities. The development follows the reported appointment of Sourav Ganguly as the team’s head coach. Speaking about his long-standing relationship with Ganguly, Yuvraj recalled a light-hearted exchange in which Ganguly asked him to be his assistant. Yuvraj replied that he had effectively been doing so for the past 25 years. He credited Ganguly with building confidence within the Indian team and inspiring players to believe they could win series overseas.
Yuvraj made his India debut in 2000 and retired from international cricket in 2019. In the IPL, he played 132 matches and scored 2,750 runs. He represented Delhi in the 2015 season, when the franchise acquired him for ₹16 crore. Although he has not previously held an official coaching position, Yuvraj has mentored players including Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, Prabhsimran Singh and Rishabh Pant. According to the report, the JSW Group is set to oversee Delhi Capitals in the 2027 and 2028 seasons, with Parth Jindal involved in shaping the team’s plans.
