Apple Pay could make its India debut by late September or October 2026, according to reports. The company is said to be in discussions with major card-issuing banks as it prepares to enter India's digital payments market. The service is reportedly expected to initially support credit cards on networks such as Visa and Mastercard, allowing users to add eligible cards to Apple Wallet and make contactless payments at compatible terminals.
UPI support may not be available when Apple Pay launches, as the company would need the necessary regulatory approvals and a sponsor bank to enable the facility. Reports also suggest Apple is negotiating the transaction fee it would receive from banks. The proposed fee is reportedly around 15–20 basis points, while some banks are seeking a lower rate. However, Apple has not confirmed either the launch date or the reported features.
