Apple is reportedly exploring multi-year partnerships with news publishers as part of its effort to make its next-generation Siri AI more capable. According to a Wall Street Journal report, the company has approached publishers about accessing their content, which could help Siri provide users with more current news and information. The names of the publishers involved have not been disclosed.
The reported proposal differs from the fixed-fee licensing arrangements used by some other AI companies. Apple is said to be considering a variable compensation model under which publishers could receive payments when their content is used. Apple introduced the new Siri AI at WWDC 2026, describing it as a more conversational assistant with broad world knowledge, personal-context understanding and onscreen awareness. The company says Siri AI will arrive as a beta later this year across supported Apple platforms.
