Anthropic has expanded its Claude AI-powered services to Google Workspace, allowing users to work with the AI assistant directly inside Google Docs, Sheets and Slides. The new Claude for Google Workspace feature has been released in public beta for paid Claude plans. Users can open Claude in a sidebar next to their Google files, allowing the AI to read selected content and make changes without requiring them to switch between applications or browser tabs.
In Google Docs, Claude can rewrite sentences, restyle headings, suggest larger edits, create executive summaries and generate tables. In Sheets, it can write formulas, build pivot tables, create charts and add new tabs, while in Slides it can create new slides that match existing layouts and themes and identify overlapping or difficult-to-read elements. Claude offers an “Ask before edits” mode for approval-based changes and an “Accept all edits” mode for automatic editing. Users can install the extension through the Google Workspace Marketplace and enable the required Docs, Sheets and Slides connectors, with additional administrator approval needed for some Team and Enterprise accounts.
