Heavy Rains Wreak Havoc in Sri Lanka

Heavy rains have caused severe devastation across Sri Lanka, triggering floods and landslides that have claimed at least seven lives. Several areas have been inundated, affecting houses, agricultural fields and roads. Officials said 291 houses were damaged due to the torrential rains.

Around 3,500 people have been evacuated to safer locations from affected areas. Authorities have declared holidays for educational institutions in view of the situation. Rescue teams are carrying out relief operations to help people trapped in flood-hit regions.
