Political tensions and protests continue in Delhi, with the Congress preparing to organise a march titled ‘March for Democracy’ today, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The party has urged its members to participate in large numbers. Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, along with several ministers, MPs, MLAs and other Congress leaders, have already reached Delhi to take part in the rally. Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has called upon students, youth and everyone committed to protecting democracy to join the demonstration. The Congress also sought an appointment with the Chief Justice of India to submit a representation. However, permission for the meeting was reportedly not granted by Chief Justice Justice Surya Kant for various reasons.
Meanwhile, the Cakro Janata Party (CJP) has announced that its nationwide agitation will continue until Gyanesh Kumar resigns. The party's leaders are expected to visit the Parliament Street Police Station today and seek permission to stage a protest at Jantar Mantar. Left-wing student and youth organisations have also been holding demonstrations at several locations across Delhi over the past few days and are planning further protests today. In view of the series of demonstrations and political rallies, security personnel have been deployed in large numbers across key parts of the national capital. Police are remaining on alert to maintain law and order as the situation continues to draw political attention.
