Deewana, starring Harshith Reddy and debut heroine Smeha Manimegalai, is receiving an encouraging response from audiences following its theatrical release on June 20. To celebrate the film's success, the makers organized a grand Success Meet in Hyderabad, where the cast and crew expressed gratitude to moviegoers while also voicing concerns over the film receiving an A certificate despite having no objectionable content. Several team members stated that the certification prevented many family audiences from watching the film and affected promotional activities planned before release.
Producer Vasudev Koppineni, director Sreekanth Sangishetty, and hero Harshith Reddy questioned the certification decision, emphasizing that Deewana contains neither kissing scenes nor excessive violence. The team revealed that delays in receiving the censor certificate also resulted in the cancellation of planned premiere shows. They argued that such decisions discourage young filmmakers and creative storytellers who are trying to bring fresh content to audiences.
Despite these challenges, the Deewana team expressed confidence in the film's long theatrical run, citing the overwhelming appreciation for its emotional father-son relationship, realistic storytelling, and heartfelt performances. Harshith Reddy said the film has connected deeply with young audiences and families, while director Sreekanth Sangishetty described Deewana as a timeless love story that showcases the emotional strength of Telugu cinema. The makers have also reduced ticket prices in single-screen theatres to ₹100 to encourage more people to experience the film on the big screen.
