A Parliamentary Committee has expressed serious concern over the functioning of social media platforms, particularly regarding the removal of a video related to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The panel reportedly voiced strong displeasure over the incident and directed platforms to ensure that objectionable content is removed promptly in accordance with applicable rules.
The committee is said to have issued a three-day ultimatum to Meta to remove the disputed content. It also called for action against those found responsible for the issue. The Parliamentary Panel warned that failure to comply with its directions could result in the loss of legal protections available under the applicable regulatory framework.
