Big Plan for Grain Storage, Uttam Assures Support

Amid record paddy procurement in Telangana, Civil Supplies Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy assured the Food Corporation of India (FCI) of full support to increase storage capacity for food grains. FCI General Manager Anuj Tyagi and officials met the minister at the Secretariat on Monday and discussed issues related to paddy procurement, storage facilities, and transportation.

Officials informed that the current storage capacity available for the central pool in Telangana stands at 31 lakh tonnes. As per FCI norms, the state still faces a shortage of 16.25 lakh tonnes of storage capacity, making the construction of additional warehouses essential. The minister assured that the government would provide necessary support for strengthening storage infrastructure.
