Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy addressed a public meeting in Munirabad, Karnataka, and expressed optimism about finding a permanent solution to the long-standing Tungabhadra water issues. He stated that the restoration of 33 gates is not merely an infrastructure project but a significant step toward resolving a problem that has affected farmers for generations. The initiative is expected to benefit lakhs of farmers and create a lasting impact on irrigation development.
The Chief Minister pointed out that Telangana is able to utilize only 5 to 6 TMC of water out of the 17.9 TMC allocated under the Rajolibanda Diversion Scheme (RDS). He said issues such as silt accumulation in the Tungabhadra reservoir and water allocation concerns were discussed with Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil. Revanth Reddy expressed confidence that the discussions held beyond political considerations would pave the way for a permanent solution to inter-state water disputes and strengthen support for farmers.
