The United States has lifted restrictions on vessels traveling to and from Iranian ports following the signing of a 60-day peace memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that, under President Donald Trump’s directive, American forces will no longer obstruct maritime traffic linked to Iranian ports and coastal regions. The move is expected to ease congestion in the Strait of Hormuz, allowing stranded vessels to resume their journeys and helping restore normal oil transportation in the coming days.
Despite lifting the blockade, CENTCOM clarified that US warships will remain deployed near the strategic waterway to monitor compliance with the agreement. Meanwhile, Iran issued a stern warning, stating that any violation of the deal, excessive demands, or bad-faith actions by the United States or its allies would trigger a strong response. Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said Tehran would react firmly if the agreement is breached, emphasizing that further escalation could lead to serious consequences.
