The President of the South Indian Artistes' Association, Nasser, on Thursday urged Telugu actor Rajendra Prasad to issue a heartfelt apology for his recent remarks about legendary Tamil actor and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. G. Ramachandran (MGR). During a recent event, Rajendra Prasad praised veteran Telugu actor Kanta Rao, but in the process made a comparison that was perceived as derogatory towards MGR, which sparked criticism from several members of the film fraternity.
Reacting to the controversy, Nasser released a brief video message expressing disappointment over the remarks. He said that while appreciating another actor’s craft is admirable, comments made in comparison to a revered personality like MGR could hurt many people, especially Tamilians. Nasser highlighted the long-standing cultural and professional bond between the Telugu and Tamil film industries and emphasized that MGR was not only a celebrated actor but also a respected political leader. He appealed to Rajendra Prasad to apologise sincerely in order to maintain the dignity and unity of the film fraternity.
