A political controversy has erupted in Tamil Nadu after Udhayanidhi Stalin’s speech during a DMK protest over the Cauvery water issue drew criticism for allegedly containing a double-meaning remark linked to actress Trisha. During the event, a section of party workers reportedly chanted Trisha’s name, after which Udhayanidhi’s response became the subject of widespread debate. He later clarified that his comments were directed at the Cauvery River and not at the actress.
The clarification, however, failed to end the controversy. Singer Chinmayi Sripaada and actress-politician Khushbu Sundar strongly condemned the remarks, stating that women should not be dragged into political discourse. Khushbu demanded an unconditional public apology, while Chinmayi criticized the language used at a public gathering. The issue has since triggered intense political debate and widespread discussion across social media.
