China has announced sanctions against 10 American defense-related companies, intensifying tensions between the world's two largest economies. Beijing stated that it would prohibit the export of dual-use civilian and military goods to the affected firms, which reportedly include major defense contractors such as Raytheon Technologies and Lockheed Martin. The move comes shortly after the United States restricted Chinese technology companies from participating in certain defense-related contracts.
In addition, China's Ministry of Commerce announced that state-owned enterprises would be barred from purchasing products from 46 US companies. Beijing also prohibited the transfer of Chinese-origin products purchased by third countries to the sanctioned American firms. Earlier this month, the US Department of Defense imposed restrictions on several Chinese technology companies, including Alibaba Group and Baidu, citing alleged links to the Chinese military. The latest measures highlight growing friction between Washington and Beijing despite recent discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral trade cooperation.
