U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that he is suspending planned military strikes against Iran, claiming that negotiations between Washington and Tehran have reached an advanced stage. Trump stated that Iranian leaders had broadly accepted the proposed framework and that several regional countries, including Israel, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Türkiye, Pakistan, Bahrain, and Egypt, had expressed support for the initiative. He added that only the formal signing of the agreement remains and that details regarding the venue and date would be announced soon. However, Trump clarified that restrictions on Iranian ports would remain in place until the agreement is fully implemented. Reports indicate that the proposed deal could include reopening maritime routes and restarting diplomatic talks, although key details remain undisclosed.
Earlier, Trump had warned of intensified military action and threatened to target key components of Iran’s oil infrastructure. Despite his optimistic remarks, Iran has rejected claims that a final agreement has been reached, insisting that no official deal has yet been approved. Meanwhile, military tensions remain high, with reports of fresh strikes, explosions in multiple Iranian locations, and continued exchanges of warnings between Washington and Tehran. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned that Iran would respond firmly to any attacks, while Antonio Guterres urged all sides to pursue diplomacy and avoid further escalation in West Asia.
