Andhra Pradesh Congress president YS Sharmila accused Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar of acting like an agent of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She alleged that just as the RSS works for the BJP, Gyanesh Kumar was working for Modi. Speaking to the media after a Congress protest in Vijayawada on Saturday, Sharmila demanded that Gyanesh Kumar resign immediately or be removed from office. She also urged citizens to raise their voice over the functioning of the Election Commission and protect their right to vote.
Sharmila said providing political representation to the youth in the upcoming local body elections would be one of the Congress party’s key objectives. At a broader party meeting held at Andhra Ratna Bhavan in Vijayawada on Saturday, she launched the ‘Navataraniki Yuvataram’ programme aimed at preparing young people for leadership roles in local bodies. She unveiled the programme’s poster and QR code along with P V Mohan, AICC in-charge for Andhra Pradesh affairs.
