Indian javelin star Neeraj Chopra has successfully qualified for the Commonwealth Games after crossing the qualification mark at the Doha Diamond League. During the event held on Friday, Chopra recorded a throw of 82.77 metres in his second attempt, surpassing the qualifying standard of 82.61 metres. The achievement comes as a major boost for the Olympic champion, who returned to competition after recovering from a back injury.
Despite securing qualification, Chopra finished fourth in the event with a season-best throw of 85.69 metres. Sri Lanka’s rising star Ramesh Pathirage claimed first place with a throw of 88.68 metres, while Anderson Peters of Grenada finished second with 86.38 metres and Curtis Thompson of the United States took third with 85.99 metres. Sports experts have praised Chopra’s comeback and expect stronger performances in upcoming competitions.
